E027 - EGR
E031 - shorted MAP sensor
E052 - PCM memory reset
E071 - Intermittent MAP
these are not in my books:
F40
.7.0?

if the car started, I assume all the codes were "history" as compared to "current."
You may be in luck .. the MAP sensor is usually located atop of the intake manifold, passenger side towards the firewall .. the connector tends to break down due to the age and heat and E031 & E071 point to that ... check that. Sensor may be bad, but that is less common.
the EGR error may be connected to the MAP error but if you correct the MAP issue and the EGR code returns, you are looking at a EGR.
when you deal with the MAP and/or connector, clear the CODES and see what returns if any.

ok well i just tried driving it and now it starts up and everything, but when i put it in gear it stalls.
i took some photos of the piece that i think is the problem... someone tell me what it is and if its supposed to be doing what its doing in the video i made
http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...=engine004.flv
go to that link to watch the video
is it supposed to be doing that? it doesnt seem like thats right, how it hesitates to rev and everything

can someone explain to me what EGR is? my car does idle a little weird at times. so i figured i have to replace the MAP sensor, but the EGR? whats that

Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is a NOx emissions reduction technique used in engines and works by recirculating a portion of an exhaust back to the engine.
The video is the idle air control, IAC .. it does that.

oh okay, well, do you have any idea why it wouild be stalling after being put in gear? and sometimes not even then, do you think the throttle body should be cleaned out or something? it looked pretty dirty when i looked inside, sludge and stuff was in it

RE: 1992 deville no start
a carbon filled throttle body will make an engine idle rough, stall, etc .. it never hurts to clean it and some cars, need it often ..
regardless of the throttle body, the diagnostic computers have spoke .. they rarely if ever, make a mistake .

yeahhhhhhhhhhh so im pretty sure its my fuel pump. i sprayed starting fluid in the throttle body and it started right up and ran for a few seconds, then shut off. is this a good enough test to tell if its the fuel pump or not?

nope .. that just tells you you have spark.
test the fuel pressure for that. of course, looking at your codes, why?
