I have a 96 STS. Just recently I put about 50$ in the tank and watched the fuel guage visibly drop until it was so low the low fuel light came on the information display. I only drove like 20 miles. Anyone know what this could be. Please don't tell me I have to drop the tank for this.

 

ho greencreampuff....did you figure your problem out yet? if its like mine, and battery is under rear seat, there might be 2 grounds...... make sure they are clean of rust and secure.......this is just a quess, but it ciuld't hurt anyway

if ground connections are ok you will need to dropgas tank and replace sending unit

 

there might be a sending unit on top of the tank, that you could possibly get to via the trunk floor.( i understand some have it and some don't.) access to the tank. good luck
