Default a/c low refrigerant a/c shut off

I have a 1998 fleetwood limited, really a Deville, The air conditioner keeps shutting down, message reads a/c refrigerant is low, a/c compressor shut off. Brought to shop, replaced low pressure switch, charged system. Problem still exists. Brought it back, shop says cadillac requires 1/2 lb more refrigerant than specified in manual. Did this, same problem. The a/c will come on periodically. System checked for leaks. None. Any Ideas? pmakki@aol.com. Any input welcomed. Thanks. Vehicle has 51,000 miles.

I am not in any way, shape or form an AC guy.
But when I see that, I put in another can of refrigerant and off we go.

At $8 per can at Wally mart, I dont sweat it.
If the low refrig message returns, meaning a leak, I then put in a can with sealer .. an extra $4 or so.
