AC1347 Code Refrigerant Low
Hi, I have a 97 Eldorado ETC. I'm getting the AC1347 Code and I want to recharge it myself. The problem I am having is getting the compressor to turn back on in order to get an accurate reading on the low pressure side. Is there anyone who knows how to get the compressor to turn back on so that I can do the cheap version of A/C recharge?

RE: AC1347 Code Refrigerant Low
Just clear the code.
A plugged orifice tube will set a 1347 just as easily as being low on refrigerant.
I always evac the system and inspect/replace the o-tube when dealing with that code. A plugged o-tube will show if your compressor is failing or if the desiccant bag in the ac***ulator ruptured.

This may sound like a stupid question.....What is the o-tube and how do I reset the alarm? I haven't had any troubles out of this car, but it just hit 100000 miles and it seems like it didn't like that number.

RE: AC1347 Code Refrigerant Low
The orifice tube (o-tube) is whatcreates the pressure difference in the system. Does the same job as an expansion valve. It has a small screen around it and if it becomes clogged therefrigerant pressure sensor just past it sees the pressure as too low and sets a 1347 which disables the compressor.
I would assume what ever method you used to find the AC1347 code could also be used to clear the code.
A set of 134a pressure gauges would be very helpful in troubleshooting your problem.
