Default 1994 seville radio functions work but no sound

I only get a hissing sound, otherwise everything else works (stations change, Antenna goes up , lights up , time, CD, Casette function) I noticed a slight hissing sound in the background for a few days before the sound went out. Any ideas? Radio is original with a sony 10 CD changer added 5 years ago and sounded great until this. I tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it in 15 minutes but no change. Any advice would be appreciated...thanks

Check connections at receiver in trunk, it's behind trunk liner near antenna. Amps are built into speakers,if radio would pop when turned on - speaker(s) needs amp replaced. One bad speaker can effect the others. Receiver may need repaired. Check for codes and fuses.
