I am dealing with a real Cadillac dealer and they have serviced the car since new.Any infoon the engine from MD would be appreciated. The warranty company requires a warranty with theengine to cover it under the policy. We are trying to geta remanufactured engine approved. The option rightnow is a used engine with 55K miles and I am telling them no, I won't take it.

I am aware what the thread is about. Its about a replacement engine. Apparently there are two different kinds. Used and Rebuilt. I was only saying to be carefull if its Re-Built. Why an engine is re-built is a good thing to be concerned about. So that is why I had brought it up.
Does make one wonder also as to where these used low mileage engines may come from. Accident write-off vehicles maybe ?

Either way.....should be careful and get as much info as possible about the engine they want to give you. It should all be recorded and available to you if you ask.

The final deal, my engine was toast with a scored piston the dealer would not fix, I refused the used engine, no one couldlocate a new GM engine, CNA the warranty company paid for a remanufactured engine, the dealer installs and for a couple hundred bucks I added to the engine warranty makingit three years and 100K miles for the engine.
