multiple questions regarding 1989 eldorado
I recently aquired a 1989 cadillac eldorado.
I had a pretty serious problem today, ingition key got stuck and wouldnt turn off, took it to shop, probaly the ignition cylinder. Anyone with similar problems?
Also, once in a while I get the "Coolant Fan Fault" and each time I check the temp it is usualy 230 or 233, it climbs to 238 then returns to normal (208-213) I had 7 occurances when it hit 238 and climbed to 254. I pulled off and let it cool down. Is this a thermostat problem???

RE: multiple questions regarding 1989 eldorado
I have a 88 eldawg and was also getting the same warning! It turned out to be the coolant fan module that sits directly behind the grill. It has four connectors coming from it and operates the fans. Unfortunately you can't get it aftermarket, and through the dealer it's rather costly $200+. I bought mine from a salvage yard for $11 and have had no problems since, this was about 9 months ago. Good luck!
