1993 Fleetwood Multiple Codes
I just removed and replaced the engine in a 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood with a TBI 350 Engine. We put a new camshaft in the motor, replaced all gaskets and seals, and reinstalled. After the change, The car runs rough and backfires like nothing you have ever heard. When I hook up my mac scanner, only some information is being read correcty to the scanner. Engine RPM stays at 800 with no change on the scanner, even when you rev the engine. Coolant temp doesn't read correctly, TPS doesn't register correctly, I could go on and on. It is reading somethings likeignition advance and a couple of other things, so I know I amhooked up correctly with my Mac scanner. It even says the car is going 64MPH when setting still. I have 14 trouble codes. 27, 31, 33, 36, 38, 39, 41, 46, 48, 62, 69, 72, 79, and 89. We replaced the ECM thinking the computer was bad. I still have the exact same problem. I am almost positive now that we have a bad ground somewhere. we have checked ground to the block from the battery, and from the head to the frame, and no problems there. Could there be another major ground somewhere that could be causing this problem. I am about at the end of my rope. Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks alot,
Donnie

There is no mention of what engine the car had BEFORE .. if you changed engine types, you mostl likley got ECM issues.
Assuming no engine type change, I dont see anything about checking the timing, the cam orientation, the cam chain, the knock sensors.
You may well be right on the grounds, these car are awful finicky on grounds .. BIG TIME .. make damn SUPER sure you have the OEM Cadmium hardware for every ground and not common off the shelf iron/steel/alum hardware.

We changed distributor, and verified 100% that the timing on the car is correct. I will look at the ground tabs and see if the material is up to par.
Thanks for the help. I did just find a small grey/white wire in the main loom close to the distributor that had been cut at some point. It feeds directly back to the ecm and seems to supply the ground to the fuel pump relay. We are still checking the other end of the gray/white wire to see what else it should be feeding.
