Default 99 STS Multiple Codes After Battery Replacement

I was working on my father's 99 STS. It is in near showroom condition and has only 40K on it. We replaced the battery with an AC Delco OEM group 79 as the original was no longer holding a charge. Then the codes ECM, ABS/Traction, BPVM. It was running perfectly prior to the battery change. Is there a restart procedure after a battery replacement that I did not follow? I just went negative, positive, battery out, battery in, positive, negative. I should add it is running fine despite the codes. My father, however, is 75 years old and is considering dumping the car because of them. Please does anyone have a simple solution? This was supposed to be my dad's last car when he bought it new.

I'd try clearing the codes, disconnect and reconnect negative battery cable.

Thanks for the advice brushwolf. We cleared the codes and rebooted the ECM by disconnecting and reconnecting the negative battery cable as you suggested. All the lights went away for about 60 miles then the ABS and Traction Control warning lights come on. The codes are ABS C1243-current (got this once) and ABS C1243-history (usually get this). We have repeated the procedure 3 times with the same result. Where should we look next? the BPMV(brake pressure modulating valve)? The dealership wanted to replace that for $1600.
