Red face Question Regarding First Gear Lockout....

I've been reading up on "TRACTION DISABLED" "ABS LIGHT" and how these two things lock off your first gear in drive. I also noticed that when I select [1], I'm still in 2nd... Im going over my car with a fine-tooth comb in order to get Trac Working agian. In the mean time does anyone know a fix to get access to 1st gear again?

1995 DeVille Concours, 4.6, N*

Code its giving is T033 ( I think, which is a bad wheel speed sensor in the right back )

My poor baby's hurt'in right now ( Still puts ricers in their place though ).

Wheel speed sensor codes turn ABS light on, and disables Traction Control. When traction control is inop. 1st gear is dissabled to reduce torque / wheel spin when traction control is off. Fix the wheel speed sensor code all will be OK.

Don't know if anyone is still reading this thread but I finally found an answer. You CAN run 1st with No T/C.

Put your car (Pre 1996) into Diag Mode (Key in ACC posistion, hold down Warmer(Red) + OFF buttons.

(You car now may cycle through CODES)
When it says "PCM ? " press up on fan speed button.

Now keep pressing down fan speed button until it reads "PCM Override ?", press fan speed up.

Press fan speed down so it reads PS24.

Now press the Warmer(Red) button.

Keep pressing OFF until its back to normal.

It will enable 1st Gear with T/C and or ABS failing or turned off, for 11 key cycles. So keep these instructions handy!

Be carefull as your car no longer manages its wheel spin, so don't go crazy or your bound to brake something.
