No charge light

No charge light

Well when my 84 Deville is idleing than the light is real bright but when I push on the gas it dims a lot. What could this mean? Do you think I need to replace my altenator?

Need to have charging system tested. Poor connections, bad alternator or battery could be the cause. Some auto parts store will test it for free.
