Default battery no charge message

I have a 93 STS Seville Northstar - battery is less than a year, replaced alternator 6 or 7 months ago. This morning the info screen came up with Battery No Charge message - car started fine, but this message comes up after starting. (when the alt went out it did not give any type of message, just died and would not start- had to be towed) I have checked the battery connections, seems to be OK. When the key is turned on and I press the Info button, it will show 11.7 or 11.8 volts on the battery (usually around 13 volts shows). Any suggestions or ideas.

lksocker, first, welcome to the Forum..... second, with key on and car not started, 11.7 / 11.8 is normal reading. what is reading when sts is running?13.6,7, to 14.2 would be normal let the Forum know, and we'll get back. good luck

When the engine running and I press info it does nothing - will not display the charge - the "Battery No Charge" stays on -

You need to have charging system tested. Some auto parts store will do it for free. Also check for codes, some alternators are controlled by ecm.
