I had to refill power steering fluid reservoir twice in past 4 weeks. So I took it to my local mechanic. His estimate was as follows
replace high pressure hose, steering gear with rebuilt gear and replace right axle shaft passenger side total $1600.00. Next day i took car to local Cadillac dealership. Their estimate was: replace high pressure hose $487.00. replace steering gear and right axle $2331.67. The dealer tech said that the main leak was the high pressure hose, but the steering gear and right axle was also leaking some. I agreed to the high pressure hose replacement at the dealer. I have driven the car about 100 miles since and no leaking on the driveway over night or drop in power steering reservoir.
Is the car likely to have a major failure if I continue to drive it without replacing the steering gear and axle? I'd like to drive it one more year.
