Stealth, you might be up on site tools at the moment better than me, can you move some of this battery stuff to general tech?

 

I have the same problem with my 96 deVille. Sitting in the garage, or when the engine is warm, it starts O.K. as I keep it about 45F, but when I am out and the engine is cold if I don't step on the footfeed three times before attempting to start up it just sits and grinds away for quite a while.

You might try that and see if it works. Even cold, mine starts much better when I do that.
