Default Allante ABS overprotection relay pump master cylinder

I have a 1988 allante. Abs brakes are not functioning. I got some advise to check the ABS pump & found it was not working so I had it re-built. I installed it & worked fine one or twice then failed. I changed the washers, worked fine for 2 days then failed. Two days later I drove the car & they worked. I am confused as to what to do.
Is it workable to replace the whole ABS system with a different system besides Allante?

with enough money and time one can do anything.
is it economical or easy? I must say it is not.
