Magnetic Timing Probe
I've got a great curiousity about this magnetic timing probe method of setting timing. Can someone explain how that works/what the electronic timing equipment is? More accurate than using a timing-light?Thanks
Magnetic timing is based on probe picking up notch in balancer / pulley and showing timing digitally. You need to know and set timing offset (how far from TDC probe is set) GM 9.5 degrees. It's a little easier to set timing since you can look at meter vs.using light while turning distributor. It was a short lived idea during the late 70's and lasted until the late 80's, not all engines were equiped for probe.
