I have a 97 deville, and I'm having difficulty shifting into gear. I think it just may need lubrication in the shifter cable but have not figured out how or where to do this. It seams to be harder now that cold weather is here and the wife's cussin dosen't warm it up any.Any suggestions or help.

 

i have the same problem with my 97 deville. mine is also hard to start in the cold morinings but once the engine heats up she cranks over just fine.i dont think it is a lubrication issue we are facing with the shifters. does yours shift fine when the car is at operating temp??

 

It does move freely when it has warmed up. I've been chasen a coolant problem for 3 weeks now and the shifter will have to wait.

 

My 98 deville is REALLY hard to shift in cold weather. I need to know how to fix, what;s wrong? I could not get it into drive this morning. Anyone know what's the cause? It works just fine in warm weather. Could it be the airbag somehow?

 

1997 Deville with only 65000 miles had hard to get in gear I heard you need to drop the shroud on the column and lower the column and lube it ?? Has anyone tried this? or lubricating the linkage?
