Can't remove key

 

08 Cadillac DTS can't remove G and then sometimes you can

 

G? Is shifter going all the way in to park? On floor shift models, if sticky fluid ... soda, sweet tea, etc is spilled on console shift plate. The mechanism on shifter can be gummed up and not allow release cable for key to move.

 

The shifter seems to be going into park fine it's intermittent sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't when it does happen I realize that if I move the car back-and-forth from drive to reverse and park sometimes that releases it

you did say floor or column. I'm guessing floor take top of console off and look at shifter there will be 2 cables one trans and the other for ignition lock.
