I need help with my 2000 deville fuel gauge problems

Today I dropped off my 2000 Cadillac deville to my mechanic to change out a fuel level sensor. He changed the part with a new one and I'm still getting the same old problem what else could it be?

Same old problem meaning the gas gauge error. He kept it another day just now I picked it up from his shop all seems to be okay now
