Gear shift removal

I have a DTS and i wanted to convert the leather handle that i have to the woodgrain, I have the wood grain on its way, but i dont know how to remove the shifter? some say trun and lift, I dont know

To get old handle off there is a 1/2 long clip on the part of handle that faces dash. Pry it out with a small screw driver and lift handle off shaft. Install according to instructions. If installing factory style handle start clip in slot install handle on shaft push down firmly and press clip in till flush. Hope it helps

Is this clip under the chrome piece or in between the wood and the chrome

Actually I got it off, the DTS doesnt have a clip, you have to twist the handle from right to left not to hard , just as if your wiggling it but use some pressure, and at the same time pull up, and it will release from the shaft. Good luck

I have basically the same question
I wish to replace the shift know on my 97 Eldorado with the high polish wood type
How do I get the old Leather covered one off?
