Default caddy won't change gears

I am the proud owner of a 96 el dorado northstar v8 automatic. Car has 119,00 miles and just went on 700 mile trip last week. So, on way to work jumped out to pass slow car this morning and car jumped out of gear, ever since has been stuck in what feels like first gear although could be second. When I let off gas at about 40 mph car feels like I pushed in clutch and is free rolling, rpms appear to have to catch back up with trans. so to speak. Transmission does not feel as if it is slipping just will not change gears. Checked fluid was a dab low added some and no fix problem. After limping home pulled only one code PC0741. Repair manual I have does not address this type of code. Have read some posts on here concerning PC0741 but none of them seem to be acting like mine does, some even say to ignore and drive in number three instead of drive. Any help from ya'll more experienced 'caddy' owners would be greatly appreciated.

pressure control soleniod could be cause, TCC would not cause transmission not to shift.

Is that a 50$ part buried $1500 down in the transmission?
