Default A/C Compressor Clutch

I have a 94 Seville SLSthat for some reason keepsbreaking a/c compressors. The problem is whenever i use the a/c or heat the clutch stays engaged engagedis this normal because this is the second compressor i've had to repace in 2 years. if i turn the a/c or heat off the clutch disengages and spins freely. Could this be a computer problem because my cruis control no longer works.

When you use Auto (ambient control), the compressor is engaged and therefore being "used". Most people do that and one can expect to get around 60,000 to 75,000 miles from one.

When you use economy, the compressor is not running and of course will last longer.

I choose to not use it unless I need either COOL air or a dehumidifier in rainy weather.
I have yet to replace a compressor on any of my cars, the oldest being 22 yers old nearing 200,000 miles.

Ohh .. one other thing .. I do make sure that the compressor keeps a full charge and it runs at least 30 minutes each month, summer or winter, regardless of weather .. keeps seals in good shape. My goal, 30 years.
