Default alternator not charging system

we were driving towards the doctors office when we gota message saying "battery not charging". we got to where we were going and shut off the car. we restarted thinking that we could reset and continue on with our days chores. it did not work. we went to the local auto parts store and they checked the system and said the wire to the rear could be bad. check before we drop the alternator. after doing all we could we started removing the alternator and had to stop. we couldn't figure what we are missing in order to remove the alternator. w2e have a 98 Eldarado and we have all but 2 bolts removed but can't figure out how to get the last 2 bolts oout.
anyone have ideas?

My guess is the 2 on the drivers side of alt. The upper one is terrible (no room) it can be broken loose with 15mm boxed end wrench. Use open end to get it the rest of the way out.(Bolt may not come out due to exhaust manifold, re-installing can be worse. Lower bolt is not hard to access if oil filter housing is removed.
