Default Just a real quick question 84 Biarritz

A friend of my dad is looking at a 1984 with 41000 miles for $7500
I guess it would be pretty clean as I've never seen the car...I don't want this "older" fella to get ripped off...Is this a good ball park for a rust free Michigan car with todays gas prices?
What should I have him look for?
Thanks,Paul @ 911

I never heard of a "rust free" Michigan Car. For 7500 car should be near perfect. Car should throughly inspected - Michigan founding memeber of the "Rust Belt" states and Has no required safety inspection.

Yeah, haha!!! that's an oxymoron right? "Rust free Michigan car" I was going to have him offer the owner $5000 and go from there...I think I'll go with him to check it out...Any idea what kind of mileage he can expect?
Thank you for your time,Paul

I own one. He can expect 12 to 14 town, 20 to 22 highway. Paid $2250.00 for mine in sunny California last year with 75,000 miles. With that mileage expect to replace ALL fluids including brake fluid as well as all hoses. Low mileage cars can be problematic because of lack of use and infrequent maintenence other than oil changes. They have no real collector value. Read any posts here about the issues with 4100 engines.
