Default RE: Torque Converter

I have whichever code that says stuck off. when my engine is cold it slides into first gear very slowly then catches up. And it doesn't seem that my tranny gears down correctly when I press down on the pedal. It continues to run at a lower speed.Does this sound like I need to replace the whole torque converter? Or is there some type of rebuild I should settle for when I go to the shop? I'm just trying to know what I'm talking about before I send my 99 STS to the Trannyshop.

The converter may not be the problem, codes stored may disable it.
