1980 Seville 368cid stalls at lights, codes 29 and 34
Car was running well, other than a backfire problem which I fixed a week or so after this one - see related post.
Car suddenly started stalling at lights, stalling when I went around a corner without feeding gas, etc. Codes 34 (MAP sensor) and 29 (ISC motor) appeared. I decided to tackle the code 34 first since it appeared on and off for the last few weeks.
Found the vacuum hose under the right dashboard cooling vent had dropped off. Accessed the hose by pulling the under dash black panel off. Easy to see the vacuum fitting on the MAP sensor from the bottom if you kneel on the ground outside the car and look up with a flashlight.
Re-seated and clamped the hose, cleared codes. Car ran fine for the next 100 miles or so; problem fixed.
My mystery is why the MAP caused a throttle speed control motor error .... I thought those 2 circuits were not related to each other. Nevertheless, I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth.
The only minor annoyance is that before I started looking at the hose I bought a new (yep, 40 year old sensor still in the GM package) MAP sensor on eBay for 15 bucks, Oh well, now I have a spare
