Swap Out Faceplate on 10' Escalade Climate Control Unit?
Hi all ...I've got the common climate control unit button wear issue going on in our 10' Escalade Platinum and it's getting pretty bad, especially on the fan speed button. My wife drives this vehicle and she's constantly pushing the buttons ...I'm more of a windows down kind of driver so I rarely use the climate control in my vehicle. Anyway, I'd like to get this looking decent again so I've sourced a nice used climate control unit that fits my model year and this one has no button wear. I read somewhere online if you swap out the entire unit, you'll need to have the new unit programmed for your specific vehicle OR alternatively, you can swap out just the faceplate but leave the original unit installed and then no programming is needed. I removed the faceplate of my replacement unit to see how easy this is before I jump into the actual swap but the faceplate doesn't just come off after removing the 4 hex screws on the rear. There are wires still attached that don't appear to have quick disconnects. Does anyone know how to remove just the faceplate of the climate control unit? Otherwise, I'll need to take it over to the dealer for programming.
Thanks much!
