Default ISO 1973 replacement fuel tank

I’m looking for a replacement, exact-fit fuel tank for my 1973 Eldo. Mine’s got a leak and I may try to repair it, but am scoping my options. I’ve checked the usual places online (Rockauto, Caddydaddy, IPGO, Cadcar, Summit, etc.) with no luck. Plenty of universal-fit options to load in the trunk but I’d rather not do that unless I have to. Any suggestions for sources other than a junkyard, which I don’t think will be much better than I have already? Trying to keep this hog as close to original as I can. Thx!

Hi Maveno,

Did you ever find a replacement tank? I need to find one for my 73 Eldorado and am having a hard time finding one.

Thanks

"New" is not going to be an option, the market would be so small that it's not commercially viable.

Haul your tank to a "Radiator shop". There used to be one--or two--in every town of 50K-plus population. They're getting scarce now due to the proliferation of cheap-junk Communist Chinese radiators. Point is, a Radiator Shop would solvent-clean the gas tank, repair the leaks, and re-coat the tank as needed. The process is not much different from their main business of cleaning/repairing radiator parts.

The hardest part of this is finding a Radiator Shop any more.

Depending on the condition of your tank, a Treasure Yard tank may be in better shape. A local Treasure Yard would be best, shipping a tank from some remote 'Yard would be expensive, and then you'd still send it to the Radiator Shop to verify it's condition.
