Default Headliner replacement

I was just wondering if anyone has attempted to remove their original headliner to replace it with custom material. If so, how was the material held on? Adhesive spray, staples, ???. I was gonna take it down, tear the old stuff off and put some black suede on there to give it alittle custom look. let me know

Well, the headliner in my 1990 Eldo came loose and I just wanted to repair the original.
I removed the entire headliner and re-glued the fabric back on using
' 3M Super Trim Adhesive '. It never came loose again. This stuff works great, except
that it is not recommened for full vinyl top installations. It comes in a spray can with an
adjustable spray pattern nozzle and is available at most automobile paint supply stores
that carry 3M products.

I think that is similar to the stuff we use to attach emblems.
how long has it held up in the heat of sun?

Well, we had the car for about 4 more years before trading it in and the headliner was still tight
and it was never parked in the garage in the summer, only in the winter, so the heat from the
sun beating on the car didn't seem to affect it.
