Default Cadillac ETC wont start

hey can someone help me? I bought the car maybe a year ago and it ran perfect without any problems.anyway last night came home from work and after maybe 2-3 hours went to start the car and just a click.I can hear the starter.had the battery tested at two places and they told me it was good.anyway if I turn the headlights on they are very bright.but when I turn the key to start the lights dim all the way out????? could it be a bad starter?

Sounds like you may need a starter.

I just replaced my starter last night. When you turn your key and all you hear is a pop then your starter is not engaging. This may sound feeble but check your battery connections first. If it still wont start you will have to remove the starter which is located underneath the intake manifold and take it to a local parts dealer and have it tested.

well bought another starter and had it tested before installing it.installed it same thing just hear a whine from the starter and it stops, bought a new battery also.the battery reads 12.67v but when I turn the key to start it drops below 5v and both cables get very hot.it looks like I might have a bad cable somewhere[]

Delco batteries had a bad habit of leaking out positive post of battery, causing postive cable(s) to corrode within casing. Could be your problem,if they are rust or green they are bad.
