2002 ESC Fuel Gauge erratic behavior
I just recently acquired my '02 ESC from my Uncle's Estate.
I have noticed some pretty bizzare behavior by the fuel gauge. As I drove it past half tank towards empty, the gauge shows the apparent real level when the key is turned on, but as I begin to drive it climbs to show 3/8 or more remaining.
This morning, on a whim, I tried something odd. As I proceeded down the street, I dropped the transmission into neutral to coast a bit. The fuel gauge immediately dropped to the correct reading (in this case almost empty) and the Low Fuel message was displayed. However, when I put it back in drive, the gauge went right back up to the 3/8 level. But wait, it gets weirder. I dropped to neutral again and coasted. Gauge returned to correct reading and message displayed. I then pressed on the brake pedal and the gauge shot to Full!!
What the heck is going on? Anyone else had this problem? What is the fix, if any? I don't want to have to rely on miles traveled to determine fuel needs.
Thanks,
RE2
