Default 2004 DeVille Transmission Issue

'04 DeVille, 57K miles, all stock. Recently started to shudder slightly when upshifting at part throttle. We purchased car used from a non-Cadillac dealer and purchased extended warranty. Took the car in, and now they are telling me it "just needs to be serviced". Fluid was not pink, but it was not burned, either. Any ideas? Are they giving me the run-around?

Not much to go on there
These new computers are very sensitive.
If there is a problem 99 times out of 100 it stores a trouble code in memory.

Many extended warranties are honored at GM dealers.

ermilscad:
I have a 04 Deville as well.

Per the manual, the trans fluid/filter should need to be changed at 50K if used mainly under severe conditions, e.g. operate in extreme temps 90+, pulliing a trailer, etc.

I would service the trans since the vehicle history is probably not known.
Just curious, what warranty did you purchase? I was considering buying one.

I have a 96 caddy deville, bought it at 73 thousand miles and the previous owners never serviced the tranny. So after a couple of thousand miles, cluches burn and i had to buy another tranny. After fixing, 115 thou miles later my tork converter starts slippin. I think i got ****ted on for the tranny though. damn dealer ship

If you bought a reman trans from GM it comes with a 3yr 50k mile warranty.
And i think recently they upped it to 100k miles for the reman units.
