Default Where do I check the tranny fluid

Hi
I just bought an 04 CTS I cannot find the dip stick for the tranny fluid. I have an 02 Avalanche and the dip stick is in the left back of the engine. New to Cadillac. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Marc

CTS automatic transmissions don't have dipsticks. You have to put the car up on a lift, start the engine with tranny in park. Remove the transmission fluid level hole plug. Its on the drivers side case just above the pan, and may be towards the front or back, depending on which tranz you have. The fluid should be even with the bottom of the threaded hole. Pretty similar to how you check a manual transmission except you need to have the engine running.
Hope that helps.
Mike.
