Default 3.2 timing belt

My 2003 CTS 3.2 V6 has 73,000 miles, and timing belt needs to be changed soon.

I am told when the change BELT , tech's also advise changing WATER PUMP total P/L will run approx $750.00, in addition I have been having CHECK ENGINE LITE ISSUES, the code reads change Thermostat, labour if rough at 4.5 hours translates to $450.00 to $500.00.

The car is in good shape, and been serviced on regular basis, however I am not sure with 73,000 miles if it is worth while to go forward with these new sevice requirements.

If the 3.2 is maintained , How many miles can it provide?

Appriecate any input on these service requirements.

Default RE: 3.2 timing belt

i just had to change the thermostat on my 03 3.2 cts, at the dealer i think the part was around $100.00 it sits on the top of the rad to the left, its some kind of bypass valve that operates off the control module ... i had check engine lite issues also, (p0128) .. the timing belt should be changed whenever its due .. if the car is running fine, I can't see why you wouldn't do the service.

I believe they say to change the timing belt at 80,000 miles. I have about 109,000 on my 04 CTS 3.2L. with original belt, I believe. I bought the car used with 89,000 on it. If you have the belt and tensioners, water pump, then have the thermostat done at the same time, I really doubt it's going to run another $450 - $500 when it's all done together and if it is, I'd find someone else to do the job. Default timing belt

I have a 03 CTS. Love it. At 140000 miles i changed timing belt. Runs great. Now it has 175000 miles. Still great. Just had to change valve cover gasket and spark plugs. Never had any problems with this car. Always maintained never let anything go to long. Thats my advise. My theory is ...you take care of it...it will take care of you. Thanks.
