Default Ordered EDELBROCK 750

So i went ahead and ordered an Edelbrock 750 , air cleaner, valve covers ect for the 71 Eldorado. Should be so much better than that standard Quadra junk

You'll be lucky if it runs as good as the "Quadra-Junk". If you messed-up and bought the AFB instead of the AVS, you have my sympathy. At least the Eddy AVS clone has a tune-able secondary. And, of course, there's the bolt-pattern issue that may/may not require an adapter plate to mate with your manifold.

The Q-Jet is a SUPERB carb if it's in good working condition...and that's not guaranteed given the advanced age of them now. I see lots of them where the secondary throttles won't open--jammed-shut by a distorted gasket.

A high-school kid can do a stock-level overhaul if he's got an on-site mentor to give tips and encouragement. An actual adult that can follow instructions included in the overhaul kit should have no problems unless the throttle body casting is worn where the throttle shaft(s) are supported. The real issue is recalibrating the fuel curve for performance use on an engine the carb was not intended for.
