Default 1962 coupe

Just joined the forum because tomorrow the wife and I are going to look at a 1962 ( I think) two door cadillac. The guy says it runs and has a title for 2000.
Wish me luck. If it's not rusted out I think I want it.

Well, I went to look and tried to get it cheaper and of course the guy who owns the lot wasn't there so I had a choice of either paying the full amount or waiting........ I payed up and am now the owner of a 1962 deville. I had it towed to the house and actually got it running (sort of).
I had to clean and adjust the points and it is not getting fuel. It is either a clogged line or a bad pump. It has sat for 15 years so I am sure the work is just starting. All the body parts that were missing are in the trunk. The only thing I cant locate is the drivers side door panel.

I ordered a fuel pump yesterday and I will probably drop the tank to check out the sending unit and the fuel lines back there. More pics

The fuel sending unit was shot so I ordered one today. I am going to coat the outside of the car in ospho to stop the rust,
The plan is to just do a mild restoration and drive it some. Not a full blown restoration but totally stock as much as possible

Yes, I would say that sending unit has seen better days!

I got the tank back in and the sending unit seems to work just fine. I am having a very hard time finding a drivers side door panel. Mine was lost years ago at a body shop which is no longer in business. I might have to make one.

A lot of time has passed and I have made a little progress on the 62. I have gone through the brakes and they are like new. I replaced all the rubber lines and half the metal lines. Rebuilt all the wheel cylinders. The shoes and drums were as good as new so I am using them.
It now starts and runs great. I have been busy this week doing little things like replacing headlights and adjuster nuts.
The car sat for many years while life got in the way. Nor I am retired and a widower so I have the time to piddle with it again.
