I worked for Cadillac and The 2006 Escalade was the worst and had the most issues since it was the first year for that platform (2007) released early in 2006.

Codes should get you headed in the right direction.

You are having evap issues

vent solenoid at gas tank sticking (hard to fill with gas) stuck open (po440) vacuum leak

purge solenoid at engine sticking (engine stalling) pulling gas into the engine. when the tank is full of gas the fuel vapor monitor shuts off as to not pull raw fuel into the engine or contaminate the evap canister.

There are a few issues here and the best thing is a Tech 2 so you can pull vacuum and seal the system to check its operation.

A good shop will be able to do this for you and not the one you took it to.
