Default 98 Deville rear shock noises and swaying back and forth

Hello,

I've attached a photo of one of the rear shocks. They both look like the picture. They bang and knock while going over bumps. The car also sways back and forth something fierce at speed. When I first turn the key on or start the car, I can hear the compressor kick on and run for about 5-10 seconds. Is it possible to spray soapy water over the air lines and shocks to see if bubbles form to indicate a leak? How do I narrow down what the issue is? I do know what a bad strut/shock sounds like, but I'm not sure if it could be something else in the caddy.

The compressor coming on for 5-10 seconds indicates air shock function is okay. I would have someone who know about cars to ride with you and give you an opinion.

I am quite handy with car repairs and all. I know a bad strut sound, and this is it. But I wasnt sure it could be bad when there isnt a code thrown.

if actuators in struts rotate like they are supposed to they won't set codes.
