I purchased my wife a brand new 2020 XT6 just 5 weeks ago. Vehicle now has 700 miles on it, literally just filled it with gas for the second time. We live in Central Oregon where we do have a Winter Season and often times they gravel the roads when we have a weather event.
This past weekend we decided to take the new rig over the pass for a weekend at the Coast. When we returned, I went directly to the car wash to clean our rig of the salty residue. After the attendant was done drying off the vehicle he allowed us to walk around it and make sure we were satisfied with the results. My wife and I both noticed that it appeared that he missed a spot just in front of the rear wheels where it looked dirty. He tried to clean it off and told us that these were rock chips and not dirt!
I visited the dealer today to explain what is going on and they gave me suggestions to how keep that from happening in the future. I explained that this vehicle does not drive on gravel roads and only had 400 miles on it before our trip! The wheels and tires are stock! They have arranged a time for us to bring the vehicle in however it was very evident in their demeanor that there will not be any help from them with this.
I believe that Cadillac has a serious design flaw which in turn is going to absolutely destroy the appearance of our new vehicle! The rock chips are due to the front tires peppering the side of the vehicle with rocks and in no way do I feel that this is my responsibility to repair and prevent from happening in the future. We have lived in Central Oregon for years and have owned several vehicles....none of which have I ever seen have issues as this.
Has anyone else had this problem? Do you have any recommendations of whom to contact to get some resolution to this problem? I feel like I just want to walk in there and drop my keys on the counter and walk away!
