Default Books .. good readings for a winter's day

People's War, People's Army.
~ General Vo Nguyen Giap,

Undoubtedly, the greatest military figure from modern Vietnamese history is Vo Nguyen Giap. The General commanded Vietnamese forces that defeated the French during the First Indochina War and was the Minister of Defense during the U.S. fight in Vietnam. Giap's book has been translated into English and provides a ready source of information on Giap's view of the final phases of that conflict.

As a former Marine Sniper and veteran of two years in the war I found this worth the read. I was always interested in the mindset of the Vietnamese and this brings it home. It isnt easy reading but it is good reading if you want to understand how the NVA operated and what their leadership thought. I walked away knowing why they won and we didnt although we never lost a battle.

Anything by John Grisim or Tom Clancy.

The "Memiors of the Invisible Man" is a really good book.

"The Firm" is a must read.

I have first editions of Grishams first six books and then I "gave up." After "Pelican Brief" he forgot how to end a book. Thought the last one "Playing football for Pizza" might be better and took a chance because it was so "small" and was interesting reading until "you guessed it," NO ENDING!
Vince Flynn on the other hand has written six books that will keep you up until two in the morning cause you just can't put them down.
