Default Bought my first Caddy

Hey to all. I just wanted to stop in and say hello to all. I just bought a 1996 DeVille Concours today and I am really excited about it. I own a 1989 325i BMW and decided to stick my toe into the world of luxury this time. The Caddy I just got has 196,000 miles on it. It is pearl white and has a tan leather interior. I picked it up for $1500 dollars, but it has its problems. I am mechanically inclined and hope that I have not bitten off more than I can chew. Wish me luck!!!!

I know how you feel. I just bought my wife a '99 STS w/116K for $4500and myself a '94 SLS w/166K and a bad steering rack for $1100. I fixed it a couple of weeks ago and am loving it so far.

A Northstar is not your typical animal. Starter is inside the engine under the intake manifold, protected from the elements and very quiet. Water pump is on the wrong end of the engine run by it's own belt, but itisvery easy to replace. Tranny won't come out by itself, according to service manuals--the whole powertrain has to be dropped out of the car (through the bottom.) I think I've seen someone post that it CAN be done...not sure about that though.

On-board diagnostics are nice to have. I'm just a Cadillac newbie myself, but I'm loving it so far.
