Transmission/Radiator leaks
Hi All!...About 6 months ago I had a transmission replaced on my '94 Eldo Northstar. Well, since then high gear went out. I took it back under the 5 year guarantee. It was because of a couple of sensors which will be replaced. But they pulled the radiator to replace a transmission fan which is in the radiator. OK..now it gets murky....they said the radiator was pulled because someone put a screw that was too long in the transmission and it punctured the radiator. That, they say, is why coolant was leaking into the transmission and transmission fluid was leaking into the radiator. This was new to me. Since GM replaced the transmission wouldn't you think it was them that put a long screw and bolt in, which punctured the radiator. Where in the transmission/radiator area could a screw have been put that would allow the transmission fluid to leak out as well as putting a hole in the radiator. Also, any idea how to replace an oil pan gasket without pulling the engine? I work with resins, so maybe I will create a compound that will seal a gasket from the outside...right after I cure Cancer. I have tried the cheapo stop leak remedies. BTW, can you give me an answer on my other email...DELALL@WEBTV.NET Many thanks. Also, did you know that when you die, if you are cremated you cannot get into Heaven because there is a big sign on the Pearly Gates that reads ... NO SMOKING....sik, ha!
so a GM dealership changed the tranny, but who told you about the long bolt issue?
if you had damage to your rad, the trans cooler is part of that, but if they were leaking into each other, they would likely be leaking onto the ground, and if coolant got into your tranny, that can damage things.
this is easily one of the most strange things i have heard. as for the pan gasket, cant you jack the car up and drop the pan? you may have to support the engine and remove the crossmember.

Dear Charlie,
This issue sounds really confusing, when GM rebuilt your transmission why didn't they notify you about this bolt issue. This would have given you the opportunity to fix this issue, prior to any further damage being done to your transmission. Since a Dealership under the law can't release a vehicle without notifying a consumer of any potential problems the resposibility for this issue is their's alone. My recommendation is if their not willing to fix this issue at their cost, simply contact the Attorney Generals office in your state and file a complaint. watch how fast their tune will change. I had a similiar issue with one of my Eldorado's, in 1996 once I filed the complaint, they couldn't do enough for me. Unfortunatley when you deal with big corporations, the only remedies sometimes our the legal system.
Good Luck,
Tony
It's pretty confusing, the only thing I've understand is that ur radiator is leaking due a long screw that punctured caused by poor work that the dealer gave you... Prior to the replacement of the transmission in your 94' Eldo, It should have been fix before they gave you the car... A piece of advice you have to go to the GM regional office make a written complaint about the stupid work that the dealer gave you... Like my brother when he had a bad work with his Jeep radiator with his dealer...About the oil pan gasket, I'm going to ask my brother how to replace it without removing the engine and you also know that when your drunk and die in a car accident, you will not also go to heaven... Because St. Peter always tell his followers not to drink and drive.
