Hey heres a little tip,. I have 1 2000 DTS when my check engine light came on, i turned the ignition to the on position , but not starting the car, then on the upper right corner of the instrument cluster you hold the button that says on/off and the first button that says Info at the same time, the dash will light up and it will say do you want to see all codes, hit the on/off button this will bring up history codes as well as current.

Mine just done the same thing. So I hooked my scan tool up and it gave me codes for bad O2 censor or bad catalytic converter. Well it ended up being a bad COIL. I would start with checking those.

I had the same issue with car vibrating a lot and while stopped at the lights while in gear engine would just cut off. I replaced my idle sensor and an ignition coil car runs smooth as when bought... you can't even tell the engine's running.... engine ticking as should.
