Default Radio on the fritz...

Got a 91 Seville, just the other day i was driving down the road and the stock radio suddenly went static. radio still displays that it can find the stations and such, however i have no sound from the front speakers and what sounds like a static squeal from the rear speakers. however i find if i turn the radio off for about 5 min and turn it back on its fine, but it will do it again after about 15 or 20 min. Im thinking it might be a loose ground but am unsure. Any ideas where to start checking for what might be wrong?

My 94 SLS Bose stereo is doing the same thing. High-pitched squeal after a few minutes. I can get music/voice for a few minutes, then it'll start with a really low volumn squeal, that gets louder and louder until I have to just turn it off. I'm thinking the amp is bad, but I don't know that for sure, nor do I know how to test it to see.

so yeah its been a week now and the radio is getting worse, i have 2 settings for it now, off and on. when its on, no matter what i try to crank the volume to it stays the same, also that there is no more sound coming from the front speakers. also noticed that turn signals sound very distant and blurry from the speakers. almost certain that it is a bad connection somewhere... hopefully will be able to open it up more tomorrow and take a peek.
