Radio prob
I'm a new forum member. I posted a similar question on another board so I hope this one is not considered excessive. Just trying to find some good help for a radio prob with my 1985 Eldorado; only has 15,000 miles on odometer and still like a brand new car. No probs whatsoever until radio failed to come on the other day when I started car. Had been working fine. The auto antenna also failed to extend. I searched manual, found location of fuse box under dash, wrestled with it for awhile and managed to find two different 10A fuses marked for antenna motor and something else either radio or antenna related. Pulled each in turn and both look fine. Other than that, I can hear some noise from speakers when I turn on radio, no audio or other sound, no tracking on the digital display. Clock in same frame works fine. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

An initial guess in the other forum, being the radio, I'd advise looking for Delco replacements from The Goodwill stores/Salvation Army thrift stores. Ebay of course, as well.
Buying from an auto yard is not a good idea, however, radio testing there certainly is!
They price pulled radios on the high side...up to $100 or more for a factory unit! You can move into aftermarket at those prices for better performance.
The shelf space in the 80s Eldo lends itself to bigger speakers then my 1982 Olds Cutlass did. What a pain with that car
