Default N* coolent change, sealer still needed?

Hi All, Just a quick question about the sealer tablets the older N*'s needed when doing a coolent service. Did they ever fix the issue on the later N*'s? Would an 03 or 06 need them still? Just curious.

thanks

GM recommends to add the coolant cookies any time coolant is drained. The cookies are supposed to seal minor leaks and lubricate water pump so as to extend its service life. Cookies are NOT TO BE ADDED TO DIESEL COOLING SYSTEM, because they could shorten the service life of water pump. There is a TSB about it. All gasoline engines should have 2 tabs added except Cadillac 4100, 4.5l, and 4.9l which should have 6 tabs (because of its unique construction).

So far a N* does that mean add only 2? or do we use all six on the 4.6 motor?

as I understand it, all Northstars, all sizes, two tablets ...
4100, 4500, 4900 are not N*'s ... 4600 is of the N* family ...

Thanks for the info. I used the tablets in my 00 DeVille. If I remember right I add them at the lower rad hose...correct?
My 04 is due for a coolent flush and change, I'll add the tabs again.

Does it matter where you install the tablets, especially if you definetly have a head gasket leaking.

depends on the type of engine.

but if your head gasket leaks, these may not going to solve the problem for long, their function is mainly to deal with any porosity of the castings or small leaks in "cool" areas - headgaskets are for the most part, exposed to very hot areas.

95 seville northstar 4.6 . I used the Bars Leaks tablets, on the package it says use 2 tablets for each gallon of cooling system capacity. I put in all 6 tablets. Remove top hose where it attaches to radiator and install tablets in hose.
