Default Heating Issue

Hello everyone,

I'm having an issue with heating. I have a 2005 STS4 AWD 1sg (V8).

My heat works well, BUT in order for it to get work, I have to jack it ALL the way up to 90. At one time, I could set the temperature, and it would match that, and all was well.... NOW, I can have it on 83 degrees, and COLD AIR is coming out of the vents. Sometimes it'll start off warm, but as I drive, I can feel it cooling down, therefore causing me to "creep" the temperature up a couple degrees every couple minutes. Something's wrong.

Any ideas?

Also, sometimes the passenger side will be warm, and the driver's side will be cold, and vice versa.

Confused.

Thanks alot ladies and gents!

My guess is the in car temp sensor is skewed. There is probably a code set in the climate control. Unfortunately reading codes requires a scanner with proper software. When temp is set at 90 or 60 air mix doors are fixed at full hot or cold, the air temp sensors are overridden.

Thanks, Slowroll. I wonder if it's an expensive fix.... Has anyone had to make this kind of repair before? I also have noticed that, sometimes when I direct the air towards my feet, I can STILL feel the air via the vents. That may be unrelated.

It would be a dealer part, you could go dealer parts dept get a price and location. It is still a guess with your money since there is no true diagnosis. If the dealer has it in stock it normally indicates the fail a lot.
