Default Rough Idle & Surge with Previously Clogged EGR Valve

Check to make sure the EGR valve is operating as it should. Yours could be stuck open or operating incorrectly.

TPS will learn after a few key cycles. Idle will learn itself eventually. You can search it, no different than 4.9L. Roughness - check for corrosion on coil towers, and plug wire terminals.

I checked coil terminals, all clean. Cleaned EGR, wasn't that dirty. Installed new TPS. New spark plug wires, plugs, fuel filter. Also I looked for vacuum leaks, sprayed carb cleaner around intake gasket and hoses.

There is a slight miss at idle and while holding a steady foot on gas pedal at around 35 MPH I can feel the engine "surging" a little like rpm going up a little then back down.

Also today in Park I held my foot steady on gas pedal at 1000 rpm's and you can see the tach go up to around 1200 rpm's then back to 1000, back to 1200 constantly going back up and down. Any ideas?

I'm still having problems with engine surging. Yesterday I looked again for a vacuum leak, but couldn't find any. I checked the intake bolts for tightness and they seamed loose to me so I snugged them up, but didn't help any. No codes showing, but I unhooked the power to EGR just to see if it ran any different, ran the same and listed a code for it, so I hooked it back up.

Ive spent hour's Googleing but cant find the answer,,Anyone have anything else for me to look at? This is driving me nuts!

Perform the checks in the factory service manual that are listed under engine controls - surges/chuggles.

Is it under the intake manifold or under the beauty cover? I checked under the beauty cover and the vacuum lines under there look fine. Also along the firewall all I see is the line going in to the ac/heat, and a bigger 1 on the drivers side for the parking brake I assume.

E brake releases fine on its own when put into gear.
