DeVille with intermittent over heating problem.
#13
im actuallly giong to be buying a 98 SLS just like mine Color and all for 400 bucks. because its over heating, the guy thinks the head gaskets are bad. so im going to buy it and see what is really wrong with it and try to fix it if not i got me a parts car. He has been bugging me for 6months to buy it off him cuz i told him i would buy it if the price was right. He went from $1000 to 400 in that time frame haha. lets hope its just a small issue like a cap. But anyways good to see your cady is back on the road and hope all goes good for you from now on.

Well, it looks like it wasn’t the cap after all. I put another couple of hundred miles on it and it is back to the same ole temp issues. I have figured out how to get around this little problem. I am putting my 98 Cherokee back on the road. It might have 250,000 + miles on it but I can put in a remanufactured engine, rebuild the trans mission and transfer case for what it would cost to go through the engine on my DeVille. My Jeep is just as clean as the Caddy. Not a speck of rust and the paint still looks great! I’ll keep the Caddy and worry about the aggravation some other time. It runs too strong and looks too good to get rid of it. I just need a break from the stress of it. The motor from S&J, for the Jeep, should be here on Wednesday and everything should be rebuilt and reinstalled in a week and then it is beach time. I’ll forget all about the Caddy after about ten minutes of driving on the sand looking for a good fishing spot. LOL
Daddylac,
I look forward to reading your post about the outcome of your 98 SLS.
etbracket,
Thanks again for your replies but it is time for me to walk away from the Caddy for a while and have some summertime fun!
Catch y’all later!

After getting my Jeep back on the road it was time to get the Caddy rolling again. My problem has been solved. It was one of the three fan relays. I replaced all three so I am sorry to say that I am not sure which one it was. From what I understand these fans have three speeds. One relay kicks in for Idle in park, one more for driving and all three kick in for Idling in gear. Fixed for less than $75.00!
