Default Dash codes

I have a 95 STS and am getting a "code 88" on the dash display, The ABS and traction control disengage (shows on the dash display)when this code is displayed. It occurs about 5 mins after I start driving and will go out if I shut down and restart but comes back again. Any ideas? Thanks

P088 (E088) .... Torque converter clutch did not disengage when commanded OFF by PCM

I would guess this is similar to the OBD-II TCC Stuck On situation, where the most likely causes are debris/obstruction in the tranny or internal leaks.

Beside checking the fluid for sediments, not a whole lot you can do. The dealer or a tranny shop with a Tech-2 can do a thorough diagnosis and recommend action. This could be as simple as changing the fluid, or replacing a failed part or seal, or...[:'(]
